LEON-MARIE-JOSEPH, Count d'HORRER, nicknamed the Viscount d'Horrer to distinguish him from his father, was born at the castle of Brignat, (Departement Allier) on July 31, 1885. Mobilized at the declaration of war (1914) as a lieutenant in the 305th infantry regiment, mentioned on the agenda for January 22, 1915, decorated with the War Cross, he was quickly promoted to captain in this regiment.

He was mortally wounded at Sapigneul (Marne) on February 27, 1916 and died the next day. He was made a knight of the Legion of Honor by decree of March 5, 1920, with citation to the order of the army (Doc 26 Death certificate of Léon d'Horrer from the Army Ministry).

He had married in Monluçon, on July 8, 1909, MARIE-ANDREE-AMELIE AUJAY de LA DURE (1) born in 1888 at the Château du Mas, commune of Prémilhat near Monluçon. Decorated with the Bronze Medal of French Families on January 17, 1924, she was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste-Joseph-Gabriel Aujay de La Dure and Marie-Marguerite-Alphonsine Regnard, but very early orphaned and raised by her grandparents. Widow after only 7 years of marriage, and with five children, she lived alternately in Bordeaux and at the castle of Brignat. She died in Chantilly (Oise) on February 1, 1975.
From this alliance were born five children:
1° HELENE d'HORRER, born in Montluçon (Allier) on April 5, 1910. Graduaded in English and German, she married on May 30, 1936 Pierre BUJON DE L'ESTANG, engineer, son of René Bujon de l'Estang and Marguerite Fressanges du Bost. They had six children:

2° SUZANNE d'HORRER, born in Montluçon (Allier) on 26 May 1911, married in Bordeaux on 30 April 1937 Pierre TESTAGROSSA, born in 1906, son of Salvatore Testagrossa and Julie Solignac. Divorced, she took the name d'Horrer again. They had two children

3° PHILIPPE, Count d'HORRER, born in Montluçon (Allier) on November 14, 1912, graduated as an engineer from the Agricultural Institute of Beauvais, married in Fort-de-France (Martinique) Marguerite LAMIRAND (1901-1993), widow of Eugène Zéphyr and already mother of a daughter, Eugénie, nicknamed Nanou. After living in Martinique, he took part in the landing in Tunisia and the Italian campaign, then in the battle of Colmar (Alsace) as a captain, finally squadron leader. After the war, he settled in Amiens (Departement Somme). He was the mayor of Ribeaucourt, and managed Mr de Berny’s estate there. He died there from a hunting accident on December 26, 1974. From this union was born a daughter:
3.1. ANNE d'HORRER, born on February 6, 1943, married John Kruiskamp, a Dutch, from whom she divorced in 1992. They had two daughters:

4° The Count OLIVIER d'HORRER, born at the castle of Brignat (Allier) on October 20, 1914, entered the Maison de la Radio (Radio House) and was a producer at France-Culture. Long single, he married, on August 8, 1978, at the age of 63, Anne-Marie DUVERNEY. Died on July 18, 1984 in Paris without posterity, he is buried in Chantilly (Oise) in the same cemetery as his mother and his brother Léon-Guy.

1/ Aujay de La Dure, in the Departement Allier: family of old middle class without a regular act of nobility, they were aggregated to this order in the 18th century, and Pierre Aujay de La Dure was elected deputy of the nobility of Montluçon during the Estates-General of 1789.
